Austin Schlichting, originally from Bellingham, Washington, received his master’s degree in music composition at Ithaca College in New York. While at Ithaca College he won the annual Richard K. Joseph Piano Composition Prize for his work entitled A Hero of Our Time. He also graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in both music composition and violin/viola performance from Washington State University. Schlichting’s compositions have been performed by the Washington-Idaho Symphony, the Washington State University Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers, the Anasazi String Quartet, the Spring Mountain Brass Quintet, and the Northwestern University Symphonic Band. His music has been premiered at Interlochen, the California Summer Music Festival, and the Icicle Creek Music Festival. Schlichting studied music composition with Charles Argersinger, Ryan Hare, Dana Wilson, and Gregory Yasinitsky. He currently resides in Las Vegas where  he actively composes and performs.
